Spare Bluetooth PTT for the HG-UV79 radio (older version)

This is the wireless single-button PTT for the HG-UV79 Bluetooth radio. Strap it to your base bar, upright or riser, and you can talk without reaching for the radio in your harness. There’s no cable between the button and the radio.

Compatibility

• ✅ HG-UV79 radios bought before 2026
• ❌ HG-UV79 radios from 2026 on, which ship with the two-button PTT. Order the two-frequency spare PTT instead.

The manufacturer changed the Bluetooth system in 2026, so the old and new PTTs don’t work with each other’s radio.

Pairing in 30 seconds

1. Switch the PTT off.
2. On the radio, open menu 47 Bluetooth_SET → 2. Ring pairing and set it to ON.
3. Hold the PTT button, briefly press the PTT’s power button, and keep holding PTT until the red light stops blinking.
4. The radio shows “Success” and an “o” symbol on the display.
